My 14 Days of Summer, A Meditation

It’s no secret that summer is my favorite season. I was on vacation and so much enjoying the clear ocean water and the Rosa rugosa, as well as my children’s awe at the Rosa rugosa “hips”—”Mom, what are those things?”—when this idea for a series of blogs came to me. Not just a celebration of summer, but a meditation on it as well. I’ve been trying to meditate much more and am getting more in touch with my mystical nature. So we’re going to publish a photo and “meditation” from me for 14 straight days (even on Saturdays and Sundays!). It will be like a two-week summer vacation. You can revisit it anytime you want to feel the warmth and pleasure of summer.

Make sure to come back this Sunday when I start!

I like your idea of posting something for the next 14 days to capture summer.
I just came back in the house after spending a half hour or so in my garden….I start my day with “chores”, like watering the newly planted red bud’s, the 2 Italian chestnut trees that I started from the ones my husband sells in the fall and winter at his stand. I marvel at the way the butterfly bushes have planted themselves around the yard, and at the many butterfly’s that hover around them. I, too, love summer, and have always felt melancholic when fall comes. I am noticing the beauty of this time and taking it in more and more; maybe it’s a sign of getting older. I love nature and summer is the crescendo of the blooming flowers and trees that bring the hummingbirds and butterfly’s right in front of me so that I cannot take it for granted! Thanks for your sharing.
