I'm a lazy gardener too. A friend gave me peony roots dug up from his sister's garden and I barely kept them moist in a trash bag for 2 weeks before finally sticking them into the ground. They came up fantastically the next season...if only I had chosen the location more carefully as they've been choked out by cone flowers and poisoned by carelessly planting them under a black walnut tree.
