The LUX Life

One of my longtime dreams finally came true this month. I have yearned to go get a simple (nonpolish) manicure and pedicure in a place that didn’t stink like a hair salon. I mean, I don’t put those sprays and chemicals on my hair, why would I want to breathe them in when I am trying to relax and pamper myself?

At last! On the north side of Bethlehem a tiny little ecosalon called Lux has opened up. They offer haircuts, coloring without the harsh chemicals, and mani-pedi’s in a serene, good-smelling, comfortable place. Plus you can buy certified-organic shampoos and beauty products, and if you are into nail color (I’m just not that into it—too high-maintenance), they even have vegan nail polish.Facials and massages are also available.

It takes courage to open a new business in times like these. And even in good times, I believe courage should be rewarded. I hope Lux is the start of a great big new trend. We women spend way too much money on beauty products that are not healthy for us and, honestly, don’t always make us look more beautiful. These days, when every dollar matters, I’m trying to spend where it really makes a difference. And even though it won’t make me any younger, and it probably won’t even make me look younger, at least I’m helping out some young people who are trying to make a positive difference in the world. And that makes me feel good.

So if you are in the area, check it out: Lux, the ecofriendly salon, at 648 N. New Street in Bethlehem, PA. (610-625-4600; luxecosalon.com). If you’re not from around here, try and find a similar place in your area to spend your beauty dollars…better yet, let me know about it and we’ll put together a list!

Hi, Neat post. There’s an issue with your site in internet explorer, could test this? IE still is the market leader and a big part of other people will miss your wonderful writing due to this problem.
