12 Days of Winter Meditations: Day 1

Darkness: Introspection

Today just happens to be the darkest day of the year, the last day of falling toward darkness (in the Northern Hemisphere, anyway—lucky you to all the Aussies who read my blog!).

Darkness tends to keep us indoors and minimize the distractions that light brings to our lives. In the darkness, we can truly look within ourselves and listen for that inner voice that so often gets lost in the commotion of daily life. Sit quietly in the darkness. Embrace the darkness. Try to really feel your heart and soul and ask yourself what you really, really want. What are you longing for? Ask the universe to bring it to you and feel the gratitude of knowing that you are loved, even in the dark.

Maybe even especially in the dark.

Next let us examine the artistic opus, If I Were a Boy. We know that it’s supposed to be artistic because the music video is in black and white.
