One of my longtime dreams finally came true this month. I have yearned to go get a simple (nonpolish) manicure and pedicure in a place that didn’t stink like a hair salon. I mean, I don’t put those sprays and chemicals on my hair, why would I want to breathe them in when I am trying to relax and pamper myself?

1% for the Planet, a Giant Leap for Mankind

Last night I attended a party for 1% For The Planet, an organization whose business members donate 1% of their gross revenues to nonprofit environmental groups. They were celebrating that more than 1,000 members have joined. The group was started by Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia clothing, and his friend Craig Mathews, owner of Blue Ribbon Flies.

Our Hero’s Journey?

I consider myself a navigator. I love to study maps, figure out where I am going, find the most interesting route to get there, and then sync up the memorized map in my head with the terrain unfolding before my eyes.
