A Visit to My Kitchen: Jamie Oliver

Jamie Oliver, host of Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution, is in my kitchen today, talking about his yummy, fast, and simple style of cooking, and his thoughts on providing the best food to everyone.

Why is living organic important to you?
Living organic is a tricky thing. I want people to buy the best they can get access to. Sometimes that’s local, sometimes organic. I want to make sure all people have access to fresh food—and that your government does a better job in making the best food available to everyone in your great country.

What was your favorite food growing up?

My favorite food growing up was definitely my Mum’s Sunday roast. It has all the things I love about cooking—the family around the table, delicious food, easy preparation.

What’s your go-to comfort food right now?
My go-to comfort food is definitely pasta with chilies.  I am a chile pepper addict.

What’s the one thing in your kitchen you just couldn’t live without?
I guess it’s my speed peeler. It does all kinds of amazing things, and it’s really cheap.
What magazine, website, book, album, or product are you most obsessed with right now?
I am obsessed with taking pictures with the Hipstamatic app on my iPhone. I just love it.

What’s the most important news story today that you think we all need to pay more attention to?
We need to pay attention to what is happening with the USDA regulations of the child’s nutrition bill. It’s important stuff.
Where do you get your news?
On my iPhone. English papers, mostly.

Thank you for hosting Jamie Oliver. I have watched the 2 seasons American Food revolution. His beliefs that food should be natural and not processed for the health of people is amazingly simple but yet challenged. Many people don’t even think about what is in their food eventhough we have wonderful lists on the packages. I admire Mr. Oliver for his devotion to helping people and his never give up attitude.

I love Jamie Oliver! I use to watch his show all of the time on the Food Network, and he made delicious looking and quick meals. Bravo to him for his work in trying to get the children of America to eat better and to be and stay healthy. We should all have his passion about this, especially the parents. The parents themselves need to be taught how to choose the correct foods and eat in the proper, healthy manner. Keep up the good work Jamie! Wish I could meet him.

Maria you have a very knowledgeable website especially the food and recipes category is awesome. I like your website very much. Regarding Jamie Oliver, he is a master chef in my eyes. I am watching his serious more than two years. In Jamie Oliver’s food revolution, I like mostly the kitchens. I got a lot of ideas to renovate my kitchen after watching every serious episode. Especially last year my Kitchen Cabinets Oakville seems so rusty and need to be colored. Before the color is red with white stripes. Now it is in metallic steel contrast.
