Ice cream drinks like my coffee float and blueberry float are cool treats, but my fizzy sparkling water lemon float is the ultimate refreshment to beat even a scorching Northeast heat wave.

It’s hot out. You’re thirsty for something cold, real cold. But you are tired of the same old drinks in your fridge—you want something thirst quenching but slightly sweet. A hint of flavor, but nothing thick and rich…you want a fizzy lemon float. It’s going to sound weird, but trust me it’s good.

How to make a fizzy lemon float in four easy steps:

1. Take a nice tall glass.

2. Fill it with ICE, yes ice.

3. Add sparkling water. Yes, sparkling water. It can be club soda or Perrier or some other gourmet sparkling water, but it has to be bubbly and unsweetened.

4. Add a scoop of lemon sorbet on top. As it gently, slowly sinks into the icy, sparkly goodness, it lightly fills your frosty glass with flavor. It’s cool. It’s refreshing.

If you want to get fancy, add a sprig of lemon verbena or mint. But you don’t really need it.

By the way, floats always taste better with a straw. I don’t know why this is, but it’s true. For maximum enjoyment, grip this float in your left hand and a good book in your right.

Here is another refreshing summer (or any season) drink. Make a shake using orange juice and orange sherbet. Blend in a blender (like making a malt) It tastes fizzy and yummy. It is lighter than a regular malt or shake.

Both the drinks sound wonderful. Can’t wait to boy the ingredients and give them a try.

Hey, add a shot of organic cream or milk to that orange concoction and have a lovely creamsickle to drink. Yummy! Ummmmmm, lemon is my favorite, lime also.
